Namah Sets Eye on Top Post

THE Papua New Guinea Party will go into the 2012 National General Election with a new party policy.
That is giving a 10th of the national budget to churches or religion as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Forest, Climate Change and Defence Belden Namah announced at the PNG Party National Convention in Lae yesterday.
Mr Namah said if the country’s budget is K10 billion then K1 billion will be given to religion and a PNG Party led government with him as the Prime Minister will also create a ministry to look after the affairs of churches in the country. A similar policy was first announced by the Indegenous People’s Party (IPP) led by John Tekwie in their party fundraiser two weeks ago in Port Moresby.
Mr Namah said it is enshrined in our constitution that PNG is a Christian country but past and present national governments have failed to truly live up to that tag.
The PNG Party leader said with that policy to be one of its major platforms, the party also believes in the three letter word JOY - Jesus first, others (people) second and You (leader) last.
Mr Namah told all sitting MPs and intending candidates that they must measure up to the matrix of JOY- Jesus first, Others (people) second and You as leader last and they will win the election.
Founder of the party and Minister for State Enterprises and retiring member for Moresby North/West Sir Mekere Morauta said the party will endorse all its sitting MPs except himself and 70 intending candidates.
And Mr Namah assured all the candidates that they will be supported financially and he will personally go to their respective electorates to campaign for them.
He said to kick-start his commitment to his members and intending candidates, he will be in Maprik on May 11 to launch the PNG Party in East Sepik and wants to see the Somare dynasty crushed in its home province.
“I will tell the Sepik people that the Somares must go if they are to see change in their province,” he said.
He also boldly told the convention that he will return 100% of the sitting MPs and will win 70% of the candidates that the party endorses to contest the election.
“When we formed the new government, I had the numbers but I wanted to go to the elections and allow the people to give me the mandate to become the next Prime Minster of PNG,” he said.
