A SAD DAY FOR PAPUA NEW GUINEA

By: Nathan Dingu

A Sad Day For Papua New Guinea: The Office of Chief Justice has been Desecrated, the Office of the Prime Minister has been Desecrated, Our Parliament has been Desecrated and our Court Houses have Been Desecrated!

While the nation’s attention was poised on nominations of intending candidates in the coming 2012 Elections something sinister had brewed up in Waigani. A group of rogue policeman loyal to their master stormed a court room in Waigani. The one who they were after to arrest’s attendant without guns, tried to stop them but to no avail. The policemen kicked and punched him and he fell to the ground. The judge realizing what was going on slipped through the back door only to be followed through.....

Never in the history of Papua New Guinea, never in the history of the so called modern world have we seen desperate men taking up desperate measures such as these! The Court Room whereby every Papua New Guinean is subject to stand under if they have a dispute or if they have broken the Laws of this Land has just been desecrated! Yes, armed policemen without respect for the Laws they are supposed to uphold stormed that room while a court session was in order!

The man, yes the one man and his allies who think they are above the Laws of this Land could not wait 30 minutes, they could not wait even for 15 minutes until the court session had stopped. No they just had to go through with guns. What is happening to my beloved nation?

The Office of the Chief Justice has been desecrated; the Office of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinean has been desecrated, by whom? BY men who are desperate and hungry for power, by men who will go at all odds to have it done their way!

When did Beldan Namah become a judge to accuse and imprison a Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea? Beldan Namah is no more than a convicted mutinous soldier who was pardoned, and he is no more than a onetime MP who made his riches while being in power through the forests of his own people, he is no more than a person holding a public office – yes that of the DPM!

If you knew you were innocent and you were given a choice to choose between two men to judge you, the first a longtime judge with more than 30 years of experience who could tell whether you were telling the truth or not or a onetime MP who rose to power, who would you choose? Surely everyone in their right mind would choose the first man with more than 30 years of experience!

The sad fact this nation has to face today is that our Parliament has been used as a rubber stamp to legitimize an illegitimate government. MP’s have been bought off in-order to vote for evil men who had the money. Yes for them to stay in Power.

Our Court Rooms are no longer respected where men had to bow their heads before they went in. A group of armed policemen loyal not to the Constitution they swore to uphold but loyal to the one who gives them money!

Who will restore the integrity of these high offices? Who will restore the pride that these high offices in the Land we call Papua New Guinea uphold? Certainly not our police man, certainly not our defense personnel and certainly not the current brand of politicians.

We the people of Papua New Guinea will restore what was taken from those offices. Let us stand united and vote men of integrity, men who can uphold the laws they were voted in to protect! Let us vote this coming elections and vote for the men, and the political parties who can restore the integrity and pride to those offices!, Let us vote for men who can uphold and protect the Constitution of this nation!
