Grand Chief Sir Michael and Paias Wingti shed Tears

Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and Mr Paias Wingti hugged and shed tears openly at Kagamuga Airport yesterday.

Mr Wingti said this was the first time Somare after his long medical treatment in Singapore.

The Grand Chief was on his highlands campaign tour and flew into Hagen to officially launch a rural electrification project.

A welcome celebration was held with more than 5,000 people from Bukapena, nearby Baiyer and Lumusa gathered at the oval to welcome the Grand Chief. Mothers cried, old men and women cried publicly upon seeing the Grand Chief.

Mr Rambi member for Mul Baiyer, Mr Olga and Mr Wingti with their supporters accorded Grand Chief the respect he still commands.
