Parkop urged to honour commitment

MORATA Primary School headmaster Philip Tiki says National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop should honour a commitment to fund a housing-duplex for the school.
Tiki said Parkop gave K510,000 in 2010 for the initial project work. But the
contractors left the job uncompleted because there was no further funding.
The contractor Pamo General Supplies Ltd said they left the job unfinished because they were not paid part of the payment (around K400,000) as per an agreement signed with the school.
The company won the tender in 2010 to build a six-cube duplex at K860,000 for the teachers.
Tiki said: “I have teachers sleeping in the classrooms with their families.
“I have written many times to the teachers to vacate the classrooms but they refused saying they have nowhere else to go.”
Parkop could not be reached for comment but it is understood he was supposed to visit the school early this week but was held back by the
special parliament sitting.
The school has 31 teachers and 2,500 students.
