THE election war between PNG Party and National Alliance Party has flared up in the Jiwaka Province.
National Alliance Party President for Jiwaka Branch Chris Kaman claims he was shot at twice but fortunately he escaped unhurt.
Mr Kaman told the Post-Courier in an exclusive interview outside Banz Police Station yesterday that PNG Party Jiwaka Branch President Raphael Tolnga led a group of men and attacked him without no good reason.
He said they discharged a firearm at him twice but missed the second shot and the first shot flattened the tyre but he was fortunate to drive on the rim to the police station where he lodged a formal complain.
According to Mr Kaman PNG Party President for Jiwaka branch Raphael Tolnga must have planned to attack him, saying that as he was driving down to Small Guy Service Station some youths pulled down Mr Kaiwi posters.
Mr Kaman said the incident that occurred in Minj did not involve him and Mr Tolnga as this was a fresh incident and he would not take the matter into his own hands as it is a very sensitive issue.
Police early yesterday morning went to search for Mr Tolnga but he was not around so they left a message for him to surrender before the close of business yesterday.
The incident between the two political parties broke out in Minj after frustrated claimants from Anglimp South Wahgi flocked to Minj District Office to check when payment promised to them by the PNG Party member Jamie Maxtone -Graham will be made soon.
