Voting begins in Bougainville
Voting in Papua New Guinea's national election began on Monday morning in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
Electoral officials in Bougainville will operate polling booths in over 180 locations across the Autonomous Region.
But progress has already been delayed, Bougainville's electoral commissioner, Reitama Taravaru has told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat program there have been issues paying for the ship to be used to take officials and voting equipment to the outer atolls.
"So we've still got our two teams for the atoll's polling stranded in Buka," he said.
Nearly 70 candidates have nominated for the four seats representing the region in the national parliament
