In what is the first for this country we now have Candidates for the Papua New Guinea National Elections using social media to market themselves to potential voters.
With the increase in social media activity recently in PNG and with most Papua New Guineans in urban areas on the popular Facebook it makes sense to use Social Media for Campaigns.
Through Facebook's 'Sharp Talk' and 'The Truth As it Is' and other groups and various pages dedicated to elections and general issues at hand, this is a good avenue for candidates to understand what the general consensus is, on issues in PNG.
Social Media does not take away your traditional election campaigning mediums such as newspapers, posters, rally's etc ..etc ...all it does is adds to the general awareness with a new audience in mind.
Using Social Media for Elections gives a personal touch to a Candidates campaigning.
May the best Man/Lady Win
